Creating Energy the New Fashion Way

Coaching tips of the day

Unhealthy fast foods become a way of life for athletes when not watched by adults, especially travel team players.
It’s hard for athletes to stay energetic and focused when tired and hungry. Thirst and hunger are energy zappers. Coaches should remind players and their parents of the necessity of staying hydrated during and eating well before games. Sometimes, rest, water, and food are the best energy boosters. On long game days, coaches should have healthy snacks available. The concession stand foods are not the best energizing foods.

Coaches should encourage parents to have players practice eating healthy foods at home, so that becomes normal when away from it for road games and tourneys. You can’t parent for people but suggestions can influence or reinforce their messages to players.
