Practice Plans

Many coaches know the game but waste a great amount of time during practice so that a lot of their knowledge never gets out. Try to do the following as often as possible.

Be organized with a detailed, written practice plan. Two-hour practices are a good length of time for kids ten and above, with a half hour less for younger players.

Discuss and share practice plan with other coaches.

Keeps things moving and stick to your written plan the best you can.

The pre-season practices should focus on the fundamentals and skill development.

As the season approaches begin to move more into the strategic game situations.

In season, focus on the areas of play most needed based on the teams game-deficiencies.

Always encourage at-home practice of their skills.
