When Sports and Life Situations Intersect

When sports messages meet life situations

Keeping things in perspective is essential when dealing with a lack of success. Athletes need to understand bad times come and go and when they struggle on the playing field, it is no time to panic.

Parents should keep an upbeat attitude in front of their kids. When kids who are struggling on the field realize their parents are not “panicking,” it helps them overcome the tough times.

However, the above is not to say that athletes and parents can blow it off and think things will get better by themselves. They must realize they have to act to make things better, the problems don’t disappear because they want them too. Athletes should be taught to look at adversity as a challenge to work harder and take the necessary steps to overcome the obstacle. Adults should explain that  even though a lot of sacrifice is necessary in the short term, it will be worth it in the end.
