Youth Sports Coach Tip - The Struggle to Help Strugglers

Youth sports coaching tips of the day
I will often use this line when players struggle with their hitting. I ask them to take extra infield or outfield practice. They give me that quizzical look, but I explain there are many ways to help the team and taking a break from their hitting will often help.
When players struggle:
• Do not ignore other aspects of the player’s game when they are struggling with one part.
• Point out the importance of other ways to contribute to the team’s success. Explaining to them that they can help the team in other ways can balance the hurt they feel.
* Remind them “A great defensive play that saves a score is just as good as a scoring play” is an example.
